While we are carefully and strategically working to implement new measures centered to provide emergency preparedness notifications to those within the City of Lexington, we encourage our residents, local business owners and visitors to subscribe to the CodeRED alert program currently in place through the Oglethorpe County Sheriffs Office. As stated in the information linked, “CodeRED can reach thousands in minutes, ensuring inclement weather advisories, missing persons alerts,evacuation notices and more are quickly shared.”
As we continue our endeavors to explore options for bolstering deployment of emergency preparedness notifications, including potential improvements to our current weather alert siren and opportunities to engage in technology based systems, this valuable resource encompassing all of Oglethorpe County will help provide information with a broader impact. We are looking forward to continuing our efforts for more locally based and centralized options.
